The long tail of search marketing

Abstracted from Marketing Magazine (NZ)

The "long tail' concept basically refers to the practice of selling fewer quantities of more products. It is discussed in a book by Chris Anderson entitled "The Long Tail: Why the Future of Business is Selling Less of More". The concept is relevant to search marketing. For instance, use of obscure keywords on search engines such as MSN and Google at least equals well-known keywords. A long tail strategy is effective in the competitive search marketing sector. Netconcepts estimates that there are almost 40 unbranded search queries for each brand search query conducted online
