Up to 15 per cent of technology roles could be cut in the Victorian Human Services Department.
According to The Australian, the Baillieu government’s workforce reduction program may result in close to one-seventh of the department’s IT section being lost.
Chief information officer Graham Coles said up to 40 of the 300 employees could go as a result of the state-wide redundancy scheme.
"We still don't know if we will lose that many people but that is the worse case scenario," Mr Coles said.
"We'll have to wait and see what happens ... the redundancy program still has around six weeks to go.
