Hywood denies print closure rumours

Fairfax Media Ltd chief executive Greg Hywood has denied speculation the company will stop printing Monday to Friday editions of its major newspapers before 2015, The Australian reports.

According to the newspaper, weak advertising revenues and a digital first strategy are weighing on decisions about when to close weekday editions of The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age.

Mr Hywood told The Australian there has "been no change to the timetable".

The company has also announced it will close its main printing presses in Sydney and Melbourne next June, affecting its printing capacity.
